Jenny was born in Chelsea, London, and now lives and writes from her home. She is the author of her debut novel, Those Missing Years. A retired lecturer in English, Maths, and ICT, Jenny has spent many years reading historical fiction and romance novels, as well as writing short genre fiction stories. She holds qualifications in Creative Writing from the Open University and in British Sign Language. Her inspiration for Those Missing Years came from a lifelong fascination with World War II history and the resilience of those who lived through it.
Jenny Rea writes emotionally resonant historical fiction that blends romance, quiet resilience, and the human truths behind wartime displacement. Her debut novel, Those Missing Years, begins not in the aftermath of war, but in its shadow—when seven-year-old Rose is evacuated from London to rural Yorkshire in 1939. Through characters like Zach, Cosuda, and Rose, Jenny explores tenderness, courage, and the quiet strength that carries people through upheaval.
Grounded in historical accuracy and emotional depth, Jenny’s storytelling draws from extensive research and her own family’s lived experiences of WWII evacuation. Her parents’ memories of fear, hope, and adaptation, infuse the novel with authenticity and heart. By weaving personal truths into her fiction, Jenny makes the past feel intimate and alive, inviting readers to connect not just with history, but with the resilience it reveals.
